Going Greek

I love Greek food. It's definitely in my top 5 favorite foods. So, I was definitely happy when a Greek/Mediterranean restaurant opened one locally. Hubby and I have eaten at Acropolis at least 3 times since it opened last year. I usually order the Gyro Plate but on our last visit, I changed it up and ordered the Moussaka which was quite delicious. Hubby ordered the 16 oz. Steak Souvlaki.

This is the Moussaka plate with a side of greek salad and roasted cauliflower.

We will definitely eat here a couple more times before we move to Tennessee in a few months.

Sushi

I haven't had sushi in such a long time due to personal reasons and also not being anywhere near great sushi restaurants. So last weekend when Hubby and I went on our Costco run in Austin, I chose sushi as our lunch date. Hubby found a sushi restaurant called Hanabi via Yelp. It was close to the Costco we shop at and it received good reviews, so a win-win for us.

We ordered 3 rolls: The Black Widow~ crab delight, cooked shrimp topped with spicy tuna, sliced avocado, spicy mayo, and black tobiko. Hungry~ albacore tuna, cilantro, avocado topped with tuna, escolar, salmon and miso sauce, ume salt. And our favorite traditional sushi Spicy Tuna. I also ordered an appetizer of Edamame and since Hubby was still hungry he ordered a beef teriyaki bento box.

I didn't get a picture of Hubby's Bento Box because I was too busy enjoying the sushi and Edamame. This restaurant is legit. Hubby and I may just return to Hanabi again before we leave for our next pcs in a few months.

San Antonio

While in San Antonio this past weekend for a little getaway, Hubby and I did the typical touristy things: visit Alamo, walked around the Riverwalk, and visited the 4 Missions.

The first night in San Antonio, we ate at Grimaldi's Pizzeria. Grimaldi's in my opinion has one of the best pizzas I've ever had (ask me again in about a year and this might change after living in Italy). Hubby and I shared a large pepperoni, mushroom and basil pizza with a mediterranian salad. I, of course forgot to take a picture of the pizza because I was too hungry. Just dove right in like a little piggy.

The following day, Hubby and I met up with his old Army brother who now resides in San Antonio. We ate Indian food which was oh-so-delicious. And again, I forgot to take pictures of the food. You can tell that this was an authentic Indian restaurant because 98% of the patrons inside who were eating were Indian and the employees were all Indian. This my second time eating Indian food ever. The first was in South Korea of all places. And the food there too was delicious.

For dinner that night, Hubby and I ate Thai food at a restaurant called Sawasdee Thai. We had a long, tiring day and wanted to eat somewhere close to our hotel and I wanted Thai so we yelped and found this place. The food here was good, but I've had better Thai food in San Diego. We ordered Pad See Ew with beef, Basil Fried Rice with seafood combination, and Sweet n' Sour Fried Trout which was by far my favorite of the night.

Hubby's Thai Iced Tea was gigantic in comparison to my ice water.

I forgot to take a picture of Beef Pad See Ew

Sweet n' Sour Fried Trout was my favorite of the night. It was the perfect size for the both of us. You can tell I get "food happy" when I start bouncing in my seat and humming while I eat. Yeah, I'm weird like that.

Pasta

The other night I made a sausage, spinach & artichoke pasta for dinner. And Hubby liked it. :D I have another pasta dish to add to my favorites.

Ingredients: Fettuccine pasta, Italian hot sausage, fresh spinach, can of artichoke hearts, mozzarella cheese, chicken broth, dried thyme, dried oregano, dried basil and black pepper.

Steak, Roasted Veggies and Cheddar Biscuits

Last night's dinner consisted of steak, roasted veggies (broccoli, french beans and zucchini), and cheddar biscuits. Mmmm.. Mmmm.. Mmmmmm!

I don't think the photo does it justice, but the steak was so flavorful and tender. Just how I like my steak. :)

My go-to roasted veggies broccoli, french beans and zucchini.

Last but certainly not least, cheddar biscuits. This is my second time making them and it's still delicious.

I finally did it!

I finally perfected my dad's fried chicken. It's a simple recipe but for some reason I can never cook it right. Simple yet frustrating. Go figure. But tonight I did it! And I'm so happy about it.

There's only a few pieces of fried chicken in this photo because Hubby and I were so hungry that we just dove right in eating. I only remembered to take a photo when I went back for seconds. Whoops!

I also made cucumber salad to go with the fried chicken. The cucumber salad is just like Thai papaya salad but with cucumbers instead of papaya. I actually like it better than papaya.

Korean Beef Rib Tacos

Tonight I made Korean Beef Rib Tacos for dinner. It was my first time making this recipe which I got here. And my Hubby quite enjoyed them. Usually, his response to anything I make new is "it's alright," until I've made it a few more times.

The slaw (carrots, onions and cilantro) that I made with the tacos was also good. This dish is a winner from both Hubby and I. I think I'll make this more often now. One thing I will change next time though is the size of the tortilla. The one in the photo is a bit too big for tacos.
